There is something about finishing well that is very satisfying. This EMERGE conference in Alicante, Spain was my last, and I have to say that it was the best one yet. The woman I worked with in Spain is named Patricia and she is truly passionate about seeing the women in the Spanish church and marketplace equipped for leadership. Patricia and her husband Cesar (pictured right), were sent as missionaries from Columbia to Alicante 12 years ago. The fruit of their labour was so evident as I looked around the room last week. We had around 80 women attend this first conference in Spain – which is 20 more than we were expecting. The atmosphere as these women worshiped God and intently listened to the Word can only be described as “sweet”. There was such a sense of longing for more of what God has prepared for them, an openness to the new, a desire to put away old thinking, and, above all, a deep love for God. Being in that room was rejuvenating and refreshing to me personally. Over the past 6 years I have had the opportunity to travel and minister in Spain three times and have developed some wonderful relationships. It was great fun to connect again in-person and many meals were spent talking endlessly about all the new things that have been happening in each others lives. There is something truly special in Spanish culture. They are some of the warmest and most open people I have ever encountered. Even when meeting someone for the first time, you feel like you’ve been friends for years.
EMERGE has been a great growth opportunity for me over the past 5 years. It’s almost hard for me to believe that I have been involved since 2009. I have learned so much on many different levels. Personally, I have been poured into, challenged and encouraged. Practically, I have gained a ton of experience on running events. Culturally, I have been exposed to different nations and church movements; learning all kinds of things along the way. Last, but not least, spiritually, I have seen how God is raising up, equipping and sending out women across the continent of Europe. What a privilege to be a small part of what He is doing here in Europe. I deeply appreciate the prayers and encouragement I received leading up to the conference, they were needed, and they made such a difference. Amber
