We got an apartment! The whole thing took a very different shape than we expected, but we’re confident we are where we need to be. A huge thank you to everyone who was praying for this to happen. Another huge thank you goes out to our Polish friend Marta who coordinated viewings for us even though she lives in Holland! We’re totally floored by her kindness! We signed our contract last Tuesday, got the keys, dropped off our bags and then hit the road for Slovakia (again). We were having trouble finding a way to get our stuff from Slovakia to Poland. Great friends of ours hooked us up with a local boy who delivers appliances for his family’s business. With a zeal for driving that we’ve never seen, the delivery boy agreed to drive with us to Poland with a van full of our stuff. We left at 8:30pm and drove through the night. They helped us unload and then turned around and drove straight back to Slovakia. Our heroes!
We are trying to power settle into our apartment as language classes begin on Monday. There is a lot to be said about having a fixed address after 7 months on the road. As seems to be our way, there is always a bit of adventure involved. The unexpected appeared this morning when the cupboard containing all of our dishes fell off the wall. There are a few survivors; and who doesn’t love eating cereal from a mug. We laughed at the whole thing and our landlord is determined to re-hang those same cupboards on Monday…though, we think we will be getting some kind of cabinet that sits on the floor for our dishes.
We’re starting something new, doing it together, actually have somewhere to call home, have friends who love us in multiple countries – our life may be busy and unknown right now, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Plus, now we have an excuse to go to IKEA!
Hello dear friends!
I am so glad that you have a new flat. How are the courses at your school? Have you already bought new dishes? The story was funny to read.
I am back in Nitra now and I was at the national conference. I hope you enjoy Polland. I like to shop there. 🙂
It is great to read from you!!
God bless you with smile on your faces.
With much love and prayers,
Katka
